Thanks to all of you who came out for our solo jazz crash course last night! We got through a lot of material, and I had some requests to make a list of all the moves we learned. Here are the names of the moves:
kick-ball-change, boogie backs, crossovers, march turn, knee slap, shorty george, fall off the log, drunken sailor, apple jacks, low downs, shoe shine, fish tails, the lenox intro, the lenox slide, boogie drop, box step, the bump, cross kicks, mess around, kick-cross-spin.
Most of these moves are pretty common moves used in lots of jazz routines. Here’s a great youtube video that includes most of these, and a lot more:
Next month, we are going to learn the Lenox. We learned a few of the movements in the routine last night. Here’s the video so you can get a preview of what we are going to learn:
And in August, we are going to learn the Trankydoo!!
