On Saturday, March 25th, SwingCville is hosting Cassie Stoa and Josh Watson for 2 hours of classes. The first hour will be an exploration of musicality in dance and the second hour will be about floorcraft. Basic knowledge of 8-count Lindy is required. The cost of the lessons is $20 for the whole event. Be sure to come out for the Swing Club at UVa’s Spring Semi Formal Swing Dance with live music by the 504 Supreme at the University of Virginia’s Newcomb Hall Ballroom.
Musicality and Floorcraft workshop (3pm-5pm)
Musicality, Learning to Feel the Music (all levels):
This class is about listening to the feeling and shapes of the music and playing around with those concepts. Since the class will focus more on listening for song structure, this class is great for dancers of all levels. Towards the end of the class, new footwork or moves may be introduced, and they are not required to enjoy the class.
Floorcraft 101, How to Avoid Collisions and Making the Most of Last Minute Saves and Changes :
Ever run into another couple on the dance floor? What to learn how to gracefully navigate a crowded dance floor? This class is for you! This will be a class of games, obstacle courses, and some drills on how to get better at floorcraft.
